At Kids Cause, we regularly host two kinds of events: community fundraisers, which help support our important mission, and mentor/mentee events, fun gatherings for the children we work with and our volunteers.
Community Fundraisers
- Cakewalk: Every spring, we hold our annual Cakewalk, a fun dance that features a “musical chairs”-style competition as part of the festivities. The winners take home delicious cakes baked by members of our community!
- Karting for Kids: July brings the annual Karting for Kids go-kart tournament. Race your way to the top and take home a sweet trophy!
- Children First Gala: The highlight of the summer social season is the Children First Gala, held at the City Center and featuring hors d’oeuvres, dancing, and a silent auction.
- Back to School 5K: This popular race through the park usually sells out well before September, so sign up early to secure your spot!
Mentor/Mentee Events
- Game Night: The first Friday of every month is Game Night! Mentors and mentees are welcome to stop by and play the selection of board and card games we have on hand or bring their own.
- Graduation Party: We celebrate our kids’ achievements at school with a barbecue at the end of June every year. It’s a great chance for our oldest mentees to show off their new diplomas and share their plans for college!
- Kids Cause Campout: Every summer, we enjoy a night out under the stars at the park. Highlights include making s’mores, telling ghost stories, and guided stargazing.
- Friendsgiving: Thanksgiving isn’t always a happy holiday at home for everyone, but our Friendsgiving event gives all of our mentors and mentees a chance to get together over dinner and share their gratitude for each other’s friendship (and for the delicious pumpkin pie!).
